Hello, I’m Stephen Hammond, a Civil Celebrant based in the North East of England, where I live with my wonderful family.

 

Before stepping into this incredibly rewarding role, I spent many years working in education and was proud to serve as a Headteacher for eleven years. I led schools with care, dedication and a focus on personal development. I am also a qualified and experienced funeral director. This background has honed my skills in public speaking, organisation and connecting with people from all walks of life. I bring these skills to each ceremony I officiate - helping people mark life’s most important moments in a way that’s personal, heartfelt, and truly their own.

 

Becoming a celebrant has been more than just a career shift, it’s become a genuine passion. Whether it’s a wedding, a funeral, a naming day, or a vow renewal, I take great care to get to know each person or family, so that every ceremony reflects who they are and what matters most to them.

Outside of my work as a celebrant, I’m also an extremely keen musician. For couples planning their big day, I offer something a little different: an optional bespoke song written just for you, telling your story through music. Whether you prefer something humorous to bring a smile or something more sincere to capture your emotions, it’s a beautiful and unique way to add something extra special to your ceremony.
